Insider Secret - Shadow Creek Golf Course was voted number 1 golf course in Las Vegas by over a million people. |
Voted number 1 by over 1 million people, Shadow Creek Golf Course holds top honors. To play here you must be a registered guest at one of the MGM Mirage properties. Be prepared to be startled by this sanctuary of rolling turf, lofty pine trees and unreal gardens bounded by glittering lakes and emerald ponds. When you golf here expect to see only high rollers and celebrities. It is the ultimate golf experience.
Coming in at number 2 in our 5 best golf courses, "Reflection Bay" is not just another public course. It's part of a $4 billion dollar residential and international resort destination in Henderson. Jack Nicklaus designed Reflection Bay to look like an oasis from the air, with its 320-acre lake and 1.5 miles of fairways, while feeling like a seaside, desert and mountain course all in one on the ground. Golf Magazine gave Reflection Bay top honors.
When you play Wolf Creek you'll use every club you own. This prize-winning course makes it home in Mesquite, 80 miles north of Las Vegas. Wolf has a slope of 154, which makes it not just the hardest course in Nevada, but one of the hardest courses in the world. The golf carts are made by Yamaha just so you won't slide down the steep sides. Dennis Rider designed this course, and it doesn't look as hard as it is. Until you get in - way over your head. Playing here is expensive. Don't look for budget golfing at Wolf Creek.
When you golf at Rio Secco you'll want to stay at the Rio Hotel, as it's owned and operated by Rio Hotel Las Vegas. And designed by Rees Jones, who also designed another top course on our list of 5 best golf courses in Vegas: the Cascata Golf Course. Profoundly influenced by the fairness of the Scottish golf courses he played on in his youth, Rees has tried to make fairness his own design philosophy. 'The courses should be challenging but fair while staying interesting.' I personally think Rio Secco is a little on the wild and challenging side. There are plenty of tees to accommodate every level of golfer though. Butch Harmon School of golf is located on site. They claim to have tutored even Tiger Woods. He might have felt he needed it after this course.
A partner with Harrah's and Rio, Cascata Golf Course is that desert course with the 415 foot high waterfall that rips past the clubhouse before becoming part of the course. Rees Jones designed this course and calls it his finest design. Sorry Rio! 7 of the holes here have water. While shooting into the other holes it's hard to tell if your line is uphill or downhill. Mandatory caddies will help; and the padded luxury carts will ease some of the pain of a wretched scorecard. Cascata sits on top of the world. Like Shadow Creek, Cascata is a very solitary golfing experience. Expect green fees over $500. If you staying at Bally's, Caesar's Palace or the Las Vegas Hilton call to find out if can play here.
Demand for the Golf Course at the Wynn just keeps growing. Never mind its green fee is over $500. It is simply the best golf experience on the Strip. There are only 2 golf courses actually on the Strip; the other being Bali Hai Golf Club. Of course, to play here, you will be staying at the Wynn hotel. It's mandatory. The view east from the Wynn Tower of its wide, rolling rivers, lakes and 50 foot high waterfall is the drama Steve Wynn personally embodies and brings to every project he's involved in. Isn't it time you planned your next golf vacation to Las Vegas around the 5 best golf courses.
