shadow creek golf club is where celebrities play - by Mike

Shadow Creek Golf Club

Shadow Creek Golf Club is the most exclusive golf course in Las Vegas. The tee sheet reads like a celebrity 5-star event list. And the course itself is star with huge pines lining the fairways and crystal clear rivers and lakes running everywhere. You use to have to gamble at the "Mirage" to play on this course, gamble that is, in a big way. Now you can be a guest staying at any of the "MGM properties" and pay a green fee starting at about $500. On a busy day you still won't see more than 30 other golfers. It is simply every golfer's dream to play at Shadow Creek.

Tom Fazio and Andy Banfield designed this track in the 1989 under Steve Wynn's demanding eye, when Wynn owned the Mirage. This signature statement with sparkling creeks, lush gardens and lofty waterfalls surrounded by commanding mountains sits on a 350 acre site and cost a whopping $60 million dollars to make back in 1989. Expect your view from the tee to be nothing less than majestic.

Michael Jordan holds the celebrity course record on Shadow Creek Golf Club. Another celebrity, Joe Pesci, star of Lethal Weapon, Casino and Goodfellas is memorable to the caddies at Shadow Creek. Pesci, who has made a name for himself in Celebrity Tournaments, is a ferocious ten handicapper. He is serious about golf and seriously never quits talking, according to those who have caddied for him. And wouldn't you know it, he a has a funny swing. But I wouldn't recommend you tell Pesci to his face.

Matt Damon and George Clooney were golfing everyday at Shadow Creek when they were filming Ocean's Eleven, Ocean's Twelve and Ocean's Thirteen. Apparently Damon got hooked on golf when they filmed Legends of Bagger Vance, and shoots in the high 90's on Shadow Creek.

The green fee is $500. Only the other Tom Fazio designed course in Vegas, the Wynn Golf Course at the Wynn has fees over $500. That's crazy, right, for one game of golf. I tend to agree. -Or, is it?

In this picture you get an idea of the elevation changes at Shadow Creek Golf Club.

In this photo you get an idea of the elevation changes at Shadow Creek Golf Club. You really can not see out into the desert. It seems like you are always looking up to the sky or at a mountain.

MGM tells us it's a good deal. They point out $500 includes a limo to and from course, your own personal caddie, golf cart, shoes, snacks and locker next to Michael Jordan, Tiger Woods and Arnold Palmer. You will find the course well maintained. Once there you might meet - Richard Branson, James Woods, George Clooney, who can tell. Most people have never had an experience like this before. So maybe it's not overpriced when you add it up.

Shadow Creek Golf Club is unlike any golf course in Nevada. Because of its exclusivity it holds a mystique. This course is dug 60 feet into the ground. Don't bother driving up; you won't see in; you won't even get a peek over the fence. But when you golf you will see the incredible mountains, forests, creeks, lakes and waterfalls. It really is a one-of-a-kind special place at Shadow Creek Golf Course.
